Norwegian pop band a-ha will release their new album “True North” in autumn 2022.

After around seven years, Norwegian pop heroes a-ha will release their new record “True North” in autumn 2022. It is the first album by singer Morten Harket (62) and his bandmates Pål Waaktaar-Savoy (60) and Magne Furuholmen (59) since the end of 2015, when “Cast In Steel” was released.

RCA Germany will release “True North” internationally. According to a press release, this is not just an album, but also a filmed live performance of ten completely new songs. The record will then contain a total of twelve tracks. So far, only the coming autumn has been given as the publication period.

“True North” is a tribute

The film is a tribute to Norway’s culture, sea and landscapes. Both the texts and the music, which was recorded together with the Arctic Philharmonic in Norway, should therefore deal with the interaction between man and nature. “The film is set in the stunning scenery of northern Norway and was shot in the town of Bodø, above the Arctic Circle,” Furuholmen said in a statement.

The band was formed in Norway in 1982 and have since released ten studio albums. According to the press release, a-ha have sold more than 80 million records to date. Arguably the group’s biggest hit is the song “Take On Me”, which was released in the mid-1980s.
