"Friends of friends" live in his apartment
Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre prefers to live in hotels rather than in his apartment. "Friends of friends" are now living there.
The pop writer Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre (46) has long preferred the hotel as a retreat to give his creativity space and to work. In an interview with the interview magazine "Galore", he spoke about his life, which usually does not take place in his own four walls. "I have an apartment in Berlin, but I almost never go there," says Stuckrad-Barre. He only goes there every few months to get clothes that match the season – "and new old books".
Sometimes even friends of his would live in his apartment, and even "friends of friends": "Sometimes I hardly know them. I really like it when others do that for me: live." For him, the hotel is not a feeding station, but a "highly complex social organism" that makes life easier for him: "I just feel better here, I can get along here." He likes it when a vacuum cleaner slams against the door from the outside. You know: "There is life out there! Then you don't have to do it yourself."
