First short vacation after a long hospital stay
Fritz Wepper was able to experience his first vacation after his stay in the clinic.

Fritz Wepper had to spend 15 months in clinics and rehabilitation facilities. Now, three weeks after being released, it was time for the first vacation.
The actor Fritz Wepper (80) is finally back in life. Just three weeks ago, Wepper was released home after more than a year in the clinic and rehabilitation center. Now followed the first short vacation with the family. “I spent a weekend with my wife Susanne and my daughter at the ‘Stanglwirt’ in Kitzbühel,” the “For Heaven’s sake” star tells the “Bunte” magazine. It’s great to regain a little more freedom mentally and physically, Wepper continued. According to his own statements, he is still on the road with crutches and a wheelchair.
His ten-year-old daughter Filippa also liked the trip: “She could hardly get out of the water with her mermaid tail.” She particularly enjoys the fact that “there are three of us traveling as a family”. Wepper is now dreaming of his next vacation: “I would like to go to Mauritius again.” He trains with this goal for more mobility and independence. “Everything used to be step by step, today it’s just step by step – but the main thing is that I’m making progress!”
Fritz Wepper’s time of suffering
In February 2021, Wepper made it public that he had skin cancer. The actor was initially treated with cortisone. But the cancer metastasized. In March 2021, Wepper had to go to the hospital with severe abdominal pain. There the doctors discovered a tumor in the abdomen. The tumor had to be removed in an emergency operation. Wepper was then in a coma. In March 2022 he should have been allowed to go home, but he became infected with the corona virus. On June 1, Wepper announced that he was finally home.
