Actor Fritz Wepper celebrated his 80th birthday in a rehab clinic. In an interview, he explains how he is currently doing.

Fritz Wepper celebrated his 80th birthday on Tuesday (August 17th) “with his loved ones in a rehab clinic in Bavaria”, as reported by “Bunte”. The Munich actor is fighting cancer and was in intensive care for weeks this spring. “At the moment I’m working on being able to walk again,” he tells the magazine. “After lying down for such a long time, of course, the muscles have broken down accordingly. But that wouldn’t be any other way for a younger person,” he continues.

In this poor health situation, the artist experiences variety and encouragement from his loved ones. “The daily visits from my family and friends are always a highlight and give me a lot of strength. We make the hours as pleasant and as cheerful as possible,” said Wepper. Then he will be happy too, explains the former “For Heaven’s Sake” star (2002-2021).

“I live in the here and now and take everything as it is”

He doesn’t have any goals or wishes, says Wepper. “That’s my Buddhist attitude. I live in the here and now and take everything as it is. I don’t struggle with what could be,” he explains. His second wife (since 2021), camerawoman and director Susanne Kellermann (47), is similar to him. “She has the same attitude as me […] Susanne is also trying to make the best of the situation, “says Wepper about the mother of his nine-year-old daughter Filippa.

Above all, he wishes the girl two things: “I keep telling her that she should stay the way she is. And I wish her that she will find the people in her life who suit her.”
