The rumor was already circulating at the beginning of the week and it was finally confirmed on this opening day of CES 2023. Samsung presented a hybrid screen there which could revolutionize our connected devices.

We now know the technical characteristics of this slab like no other.

Bend or stretch… That is the question!

As with each edition of the American show, this CES 2023 allows us to discover some curiosities. In this little game, Samsung has done extremely well! On January 2, rumors were already circulating about a hybrid screen prototype designed by the South Korean brand. This object was supposed to be able to bend, but also to stretch… And it turns out that the device has just made the trip to Las Vegas.

Thus, this screen bears the sweet name of Flex Hybrid. Journalists can admire it at the Consumer Electronic Show all week. It is important to emphasize the fact that this is in no way a smartphone or a tablet. We are here in the company of a simple prototype. Samsung would even intend to sell it to other companies who could then use it to design their future devices. But we are not there yet!

All the dimensions to know

This Flex Hybrid from Samsung Display reaches a width of 4.2 inches in its folded format. But once unfolded, the OLED screen displays a dimension of 10.5 inches for a 4:3 ratio. Like a Galaxy Z Fold 4, it is the left part of the screen that opens like a book. Users of the folding smartphone will not be out of place.

On the other hand, the right part of the screen can, for its part, come to stretch (like an Oppo X). When the process is complete, the panel measures 12.4 inches with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Enough to promote use for work or entertainment. A size that almost resembles that of a small laptop. It remains to be seen whether this technology will lead to anything concrete.
