From April 2024 – Voestalpine makes AMAG boss the new financial boss

There has been speculation for days, now it’s official: AMAG boss Gerald Mayer is moving to Voestalpine. The Mühlviertler will be the new CFO at the steel giant. Start of service: April 2024.

That happened quickly: On August 29th it became known that Robert Ottel would be leaving Voestalpine as CFO at the end of March 2024. Less than two and a half months later, the successor for the veteran on the executive floor of the Linz-based steel group has been found: Gerald Mayer succeeds Ottel! Mayer is currently still managing AMAG’s business and has been on the board of the aluminum manufacturer since 2007. On October 25th, the Mühlviertler informed the supervisory board that he wanted to change careers and leave Ranshofen at the end of the year. Ottel’s future is still open. Since then, the rumor mill has been bubbling in which he was seen as the logical successor to Ottel. It has been official since Friday. He will start the new job in April. At Ottel it is still unclear where the professional journey will lead.
