Monty Python was THE comedy authority from Great Britain. The six-strong troupe consisted of comedians Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. In their BBC show “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” they wowed an international audience with their sketches from 1969 to 1974.

The group stood out from the crowd with their unique style and quickly became one of the UK’s best-known comedy groups. Based on the expression “Kafkaesk”, the style of the Pythons was often referred to as “pythonesk”. The phrase is still used today when comparing comedians to the work of the group.

But the Monty Pythons were not only more than successful as sketch writers for their show. In a total of 5 films and a final last show in 2014, the Brits showed that they can also convince on the big screen.
