From March 1, it will be forbidden to canvass you by phone on weekends and public holidays

During these days, only French people who have given their consent may be contacted by telephone canvassers.

While the calls to change mobile operator, energy supplier or redo the roof are more and more incessant, new rules governing more telephone canvassing are about to come into force. What limit this practice, which has the gift of annoying the French, and avoid abuse.

As part of the application of a decree of October 2022 which will take effect on March 1, it will only be possible, from this date, to approach you by telephone from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 2 to 8 p.m. Exit evenings, weekends and holidays.

In addition to commercial prospecting, suppliers of newspapers, periodicals and magazines are also concerned. “This applies both to persons not registered on the Bloctel list and to those registered but solicited within the framework of a current contract.“, specifies the decree. Only consumers who have given their consent may be contacted in this way.

In addition, the same canvasser cannot call you more than four times a month. And when you tell a company not to contact you again – regardless of the number of calls – the professional must refrain from calling you back “before the expiration of a period of sixty full calendar days from this refusal“. In the event of violation of the rules, direct sellers are liable to penalties: 75,000 euros for a natural person and 375,000 euros for a legal person, that is to say a company. This is enough to deter insistent canvassers.
