From now on, video games are also available to Crunchyroll subscribers

As the press release explains, it is more precisely Mega Fan subscribers who have this new privilege, without an increase in their subscription which is 6.49 euros per month. At least for the moment, because Crunchyroll has also opened up to music and welcomes clips from Japanese artists every month. So many bonuses that make users fear an upcoming increase in the cost of their subscription.

In any case, the “Crunchyroll Game Vault” catalog has just made its debut on Android (and soon iOS) with five titles: the beat’em up River City Girls by WayForward Games, the narrative game Behind the Frame by Silver Lining Studio, the puzzle game inbento by Afterburn, the role-playing game Wolfstride by Raw Fury and the tactical action game Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions by Shueisha Games. Notably, some of these titles are making their debut on mobile for the occasion and are therefore only available as part of the Crunchyroll subscription.

As with Netflix, the games are guaranteed without advertising or microtransactions and the catalog will of course grow. Broadcasting in more than 200 countries, Crunchyroll is a subsidiary of Sony Pictures which had paid more than $1 billion to a cash-starved AT&T in December 2020. Crunchyroll also has a publishing label Crunchyroll Games which publishes games Street Fighter: Duel, My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero and One Punch Man: World, still on iOS and Android. Regarding free-to-play, these titles are of course available without subscription.
