In forty years, Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, which he co-founded in 1985 with director Isao Takahata (The Grave of the Fireflies, Pompoko, Memories drip, My neighbors the Yamadas), have established themselves as major references in animation, making it possible to popularize this medium beyond the borders of Japan and to mark the world of cinema as a whole.

On the occasion of the release of this feature film, we offered readers World to make a ranking of their favorite films by the director and more generally by Studio Ghibli, by asking them why these works resonate with them. Among the 678 testimonials from readers that we received, in the space of twenty-four hours, some told us about their memories of their first session at the cinema when they were still very young, others of watching it with their children. Some also mentioned the beauty of these films, while others insisted on the political messages they transmit, or even on the presence of strong and independent heroines.

Below you will find the complete ranking as well as a selection of your testimonials. There being many of these, we unfortunately were not able to publish them all, but we thank you warmly for your contributions.
