Royals like Duchess Catherine, Princess Mary and Princess Mette-Marit don’t want to do without perfectly manicured nails at public appearances. One or the other even relies on real nail polish trends.

Royals like Queen Letizia and Duchess Catherine are examined from head to toe during their public appointments. In addition to hairstyle, make-up and outfit, there is literally another burning question on our minds: Which manicure do royals actually prefer during their numerous appearances? Are you allowed to dare something when it comes to nail design? Yes, some of the royal ladies even like it quite extravagant! We present the most beautiful nail designs to you here.

Duchess Catherine: reduced but elegant

When it comes to nail design, Kate has a clear tendency: she likes it simple and natural. But according to the British “OK Magazine” she has no other choice when it comes to the design of her nails. Because supposedly the royal beauty etiquette prohibits artificial and colorful fingernails – because these would be considered vulgar and not elegant in royal circles. Instead, the nails must always be perfectly manicured and only adorned with a natural rosé tone. Anyone who thinks that a natural nail design is particularly easy to implement is wrong. In order for the hands to look as well-groomed as Kate’s, a regular manicure is required. This includes filing and polishing the nails and removing the cuticles. A strengthening serum and the regular use of nail oil for a well-groomed nail bed is also beneficial.

Princess Eugenie shows patriotism with her nail design

However, the strict rules when it comes to nail design do not seem to apply to all British royals. Because Princess Eugenie surprises with a very unusual nail design: for an appointment she has the Union Jack painted on her nails. Such complex designs require either a steady and experienced hand or the expertise of a professional.

Princess Mary relies on an extraordinary manicure

While Kate prefers things to be simple and natural, Princess Mary likes to go for pops of polish – and glitter. The Danish royal combines a light red nail polish with the light blue suit and creates a nice color accent. Important: If you choose nail polish in red tones, you should coordinate it visually with the lipstick – because only if the red tones don’t clash does it look harmonious.

At the EliteForsk research awards ceremony in Copenhagen in February 2022, Mary also showed us how quickly you can spice up a simple nail polish. In addition to the cream tone, she applied some glitter close to the nail bed – a beautiful mix that works particularly well with nail stencils. A transparent top coat ensures a glamorous finish!

Golden-Nails: Princess Mette-Marit loves the luxurious-looking design

Metallic tones on the nails always look glamorous, and Princess Mette-Marit knows that too. She combines the gold-colored nail polish with the white ensemble. Rose and yellow gold jewelery picks up on the gold of the nail polish and rounds off the look. To enhance the effect, you should apply at least two coats of nail polish. This guarantees a consistent result.
