To transform its flagship Xperia 1 IV into a real smartphone gamingSony unveils the Xperia Stream accessory.

This new product visibly designed in collaboration with e-sports professionals intends to cool the Sony device when it is requested in particular by a game, and is accompanied by additional ports.

Cool down the ardor of the Xperia 1 IV

Following in the footsteps of ASUS for its ROG Phone and Razer for a wider range of devices in the field, Sony is thus splitting a gaming accessory exclusive to the Xperia 1 IV.

Its primary function is to cool the smartphone’s processor when it is heavily used over a long period, such as in a game. To ensure its mission, the Xperia Stream will, like a fan, capture cold air at the sides to expel hot air at the front.

The accessory is intended to be comfortable to use with an ergonomic and relatively light design, designed for long gaming sessions without getting tired. Its docking dock thus logically follows the shape of the Xperia 1 IV so that the device is easily attached to the Xperia Stream and connected by USB.

It is also accompanied by the Game Enhancer software, which will display all the useful data in order to control the temperature and the fan if necessary, with the possibility of boosting it. Regulating the temperature will therefore impact the performance of the Xperia 1 IV in game or on any other resource-intensive application.

Additional ports… in Japan

Beyond its cooling function, the Xperia Stream also intends to simplify cable management by hosting four ports on its lower part.

The accessory thus sports a 3.5 mm jack to accommodate headphones, an HDMI port supporting Full HD up to 120 Hz, an Ethernet port and a USB-C charging port. The Xperia Stream thus does not usurp its name and makes it possible to connect the Xperia 1 IV to a PC in particular for streaming use.

This exclusive product to Sony’s latest flagship, however, is only intended for the Japanese public until further notice. Pre-orders are already open for 23,100 yen (about 160 euros excluding taxes), for a planned release in the Land of the Rising Sun on October 14.

A bundle named ” Xperia 1 IV Gaming Edition is also offered by Sony, including an Xperia 1 IV equipped with 16 GB of RAM and the famous Xperia Stream. His price ? 189,200 yen, or about 1,300 euros excluding taxes. The Japanese giant has not yet specified when all this will arrive in the West.
