From the state parliament – “The conclusion is the pandemic cast in numbers”

The last meeting of the Vorarlberg state parliament before the summer break started on Wednesday with the general debate on the 2020 annual report. Expenses of 2.016 billion euros and a financing budget with disbursements of 1.975 billion euros were discussed.

“The conclusion is the pandemic cast in numbers,” said ÖVP club chairman Roland Breakfast at the beginning of the discussion. The pandemic would have shaken the foundations of the state budget much more massively than the financial crisis. Future investments would have to be based on the two Ö (ecology and economy).

Opposition criticizes speed
Daniel Zadra was happy to hear that from the Greens. He advocated carefully examining all pending expenses. “These must have a promising future, correspond to the climate goals and the social development that we want.”

The opposition criticized the state government’s speed of crisis management. Faster help for business and employees as well as a quicker opening of the educational institutions would have been correct.
