In times of rising energy prices, balcony power plants are in high demand. Sometimes there are even subsidies for balcony power plants, but even without these there are already affordable solutions – including at discounters. In the branches of Aldi Nord and in the online shop of the discounter, a balcony power plant from Solovoltaik for alternative energy generation is on offer.

The “Plug & Play” set comes with two flexibly mountable solar modules (116 x 77 centimeters) that work with PERC cell technology. They each have an output of 175 watt peak. The modules are connected via a 1.5 meter long connection cable with MC4 connectors.

Small photovoltaic systems

With a balcony power plant, you can easily feed solar power into your home network. But which models are really worth their money and what should be considered when buying? A comparison.

The included NEP inverter has a peak efficiency of around 95.5 percent and a maximum output power of 600 watts. In addition to the inverter and solar modules, the scope of delivery also includes a mounting set for attachment to a lattice balcony and a five-meter connection cable with a Schuko plug.

There is also a WiFi module with an app function. Here you can see the performance and the status of the system. Application and use are free of charge. The manufacturer grants you a 25-year performance guarantee on the solar modules as well as a 10-year material and processing guarantee. The general manufacturer’s guarantee is three years.

According to the manufacturer, installation is also possible “without much prior knowledge and without structural changes to the balcony”. The total weight is 24.47 kilograms. If desired, the balcony power plant can be expanded with up to two additional solar modules.
