FromSoftware brings the mechs out of the garage with Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon

A trailer in CGI and then goes for this comeback awaited by legions of mechophiles who will therefore have to take their troubles patiently for a while before having gameplay to put in their mouths. Master in the art of appearing prolific without saying much, FromSoftware promises a “one of a kind opus” skirmishes between large robots, where players can “to move quickly and freely in massive three-dimensional environments” which, honestly, seems very imprecise. Fires of Rubicon will nevertheless remain well in line with the franchise by combining “meticulous game design” with a sense of challenge that has characterized the studio since its inception.

Robots, yes, but Japanese robots sir

You have to go back to 2013, and the release of Armored Core: Verdict Day on the PS3/360 generation, to see the latest appearance in this particularly tough TPS saga. Without ever confining itself to a distinct formula by constantly calibrating its game philosophy, in perpetual balance between action and strategy, the name ofArmored Core nevertheless evokes certain main principles – whether it is the extensive customization of its mechs, its thundering orchestral music and its particularly demanding controls.

Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon is expected in 2023 on PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series and PC consoles.
