Mainly known for designing the bestselling titles in-house Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, Elite Dangerous as well as the recent F1 Manager 2022 to name a few, Frontier Developments has also had a publishing label for some time. Entitled Frontier Foundry, its creation in 2019 gave it the possibility of signing partnerships with several external studios behind games like Lemnis Gate, FAR: Changing Tides or Struggling.
But the collaboration that interests us here and the one with Complex Games to whom we owe the turn-based tactical RPG Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters released last May. Why ? Quite simply because she visibly opened the door to the acquisition of the Canadian studio by the British company which has been official since yesterday.
Even more ambitious projects in the future?
In the press release published on the official Frontier Developments website, its CEO Jonny Watts notably stated that “Our experience with Complex Games on Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters has been great. I am delighted to welcome Noah and his team to Frontier to grow and evolve our development team in Canada. This is Frontier’s first acquisition. We will continue to explore opportunities to increase our resources to further develop and maintain our catalog. »
For his part, Noah Decter-Jackson, boss of Complex Games, replied this: “Working with Frontier on Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters has been a great experience and I’m excited about our growth plans for our Winnipeg studio. I am truly proud of the achievements of Complex Games and would like to thank everyone who has been part of this success for many years.
