On July 31, 2022, a female victim of domestic violence called the police for help. At the end of the line, the policeman answers him “Remember more, démerdez-vous”. Back on this dark affair.

Like every year, the 8 March is International Women’s Day. On this special day, we return to a dark case, when a police officer did not take seriously the complaint of a woman victim of domestic violence. The facts date back to July 31, 2022. A 31-year-old young woman, living in Osny in Val-d’Oise, calls number 17. Hoping to find help, she comes across a police officer who does not take his plea for help seriously.

She then insists, telling him that he is going “kill” and the policeman simply answers “No”, in an ironic tone as indicated France Info. The young woman shouts at her ex: “Don’t start shouting my name downstairs, don’t break your balls Issa”. So the policeman intervenes and says to the young woman: “And you talk bad shit. So you surprise me that he’s threatening you. And don’t call back, get away with it.” Then, an hour and a half later, she calls number 17 and once again comes across this policeman whom she does not recognize.

The case does not end there…

An unlikely discussion then takes place between the two. Indeed, the young woman explains that she was insulted by one of her colleagues and the policeman replied: “Ah, he insulted you? (…) ‘Shut up big shit’, that would surprise me…”. Still not decided to help the victim, he tells her to go to the police station to file a complaint against her ex, despite the fact that she has already taken this step in the past. Then he adds: “for the policeman, I don’t know, send a letter too”.

Result the next day the victim was beaten by his ex-companion waiting for him at the exit of the building. “He came and he got out of the car, he took a bat and he hit my mother, he punched and kicked him. He tried to crush her.” tells her 12-year-old daughter to the police.

Ex-companion Issa B. was sentenced in November 2022 to four years in prison including one year suspended probation. As for the policeman, a preliminary investigation for failure to assist a person in danger has been opened. He said he did not take the young woman’s call seriously. Indeed, he hadthe impression that she was talking with a smile” and that’“A woman in danger is generally not aggressive with the individual who threatens her”. The policeman admitted “having spoken badly to the lady”, before specifying that it is “jaded” and has “fed up with this job”. He is currently still on duty at the Night Brigade Command and Information Center. But he was suspended from appeals on the 17th.
