Fuel crisis: Bruno Le Maire calls for “liberating blocked depots and refineries”

“The time for negotiation has passed”, decided the Minister of the Economy, judging the position of the CGT “unacceptable and illegitimate”.

Bruno Le Maire raises his voice. Invited on RMC / BFMTV this Monday morning, the Minister of the Economy called for “free blocked fuel depots and refineriesby a social movement for nearly three weeks. The Bercy tenant said he was in favor of using “means of requisition“, in order to “ensure that, as in any democracy, the voice of the majority prevails over the voice of the minority“.

Because, according to Bruno Le Maire, “the time for negotiation has passed“. The latter indeed underlined that a salary increase agreement between the management of TotalEnergies and the majority unions CFDT and CFE-CGC had been signed. For the government’s number two, the position of the CGT, which refuses this agreement and has renewed the strike on 5 TotalEnergies sites, is “unacceptable and illegitimate“.

There must be a clear improvement on the fuel front this week“, called Bruno Le Maire, adding that the impact of this major social movement on the French economy would be “reduced“.

On the requisitions, Bruno Le Maire joins the position of Elisabeth Borne, who did not exclude Sunday evening on TF1 from “make other requests», «if there are very tense situations tomorrow“. The government thus announced this Monday morning the requisition of the fuel depot in Feyzin (Rhône) from 2 p.m., after having renewed the requisition of the depot in Mardyck (Flanders) near Dunkirk.
