Despite the supply of service stations during the weekend, the shortage seems to start again this Monday. If the situation were to improve, as Emmanuel Macron had announced, certain regions remain strongly impacted. Nearly one out of three stations lacks at least one fuel.
The supply weekend will not have been enough. Despite Emmanuel Macron’s statements regarding the return to normal, it will still be necessary to wait until the weekend to see some improvement in the various stations in France. If some of these were supplied, the French quickly rushed to the pumps to fill up their tank, which created a new shortage. This Monday, October 17, nearly one in three stations lack one or more fuels.
One out of two stations in Ile de France lacks fuel
If deliveries are to resume on Monday, the French will have to scramble to find a station with gasoline. If nearly one out of three stations is affected throughout France, several areas seem to be more affected than others. On the territory, the Île-de-France and Centre-Val de Loire regions are strongly affected by this shortage. Almost one in two stations find themselves lacking at least one fuel. In Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the situation seems identical with around 40% of service stations in need of petrol.
The 30-cent discount extended
Invited to the TF1 8 p.m. newspaper, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne announced the extension of the 30 centimes per liter discount until November 15. This was to apply until October 31. The French company TotalEnergies will also extend its reduction of 20 cents in its stations for a month.
