The relief package as a reaction to the sharp rise in energy prices is intended to help citizens quickly and noticeably. These include, above all, special payments, falling petrol prices and the nationwide 9-euro ticket for local transport. The good news: There is not much to do to secure the energy flat rate.
Basically, it always works like this: If you want money from the state, you first have to fight your way through a jungle of forms and work out tax refunds, grants or subsidies in this way. In the relief package that June 1, 2022 should start, but it is planned differently.
The federal government has put together an extensive package of measures to relieve consumers of the high energy prices. This mainly includes 5 points:
- Energy tax on fuels is to be reduced for three months. The price of petrol falls by 30 cents per liter and diesel by 14 cents per liter.
- One-off energy fee of 300 euros
- Discounted tickets for public transport
- Additional one-time payment for families of 100 euros per child
- Additional one-time payments for recipients of social benefits
Secure an energy flat rate
It is particularly pleasing that you do not have to take any action to secure the energy flat rate. the Special payment of 300 euros gross for employed persons should be paid out automatically via the salary. The self-employed and freelancers should receive the energy flat rate through a one-off reduction in their income tax prepayment.
Those who receive child benefit receive an additional amount 100 euros per child paid through the family fund. Recipients of social benefits get a special payment of 100 euros, which together with the special payment decided at the beginning of the year 200 euros summed up.
What you can do: Check payslips and account movements.
Secure a 9-euro ticket for nationwide local transport
If you use public transport, you can save a lot from June up to and including August. There will then be the so-called 9-euro ticket, i.e. a nationwide valid ticket for local transport that costs only 9 euros per month. Here you have to become active and buy the ticket. This will probably be possible via the DB Navigator app.
Fuel prices will fall
Gasoline and diesel prices are also expected to fall from June to August inclusive. Gasoline should be 30 cents per liter cheaper, diesel at least 14 cents per liter. However, a comparison of fuel prices is still worthwhile, because of course the gas stations will continue to have fluctuating prices and you should wait for the best time to fill up or head for the cheapest gas station despite the price reduction.
Apps like Clever Tanken are therefore a must in summer too.
