Marion Maréchal takes a very dim view of the strike movement in refineries and depots, responsible for a vast shortage of fuel. Evoking a strike “scandalous by the method”, she then pointed the finger at the CGT which called this Friday to continue the movement in all TotalEnergies sites. “I think that the CGT is in a process of radicalism because it is, in reality, an ultra-minority among employees in general”, she estimated.

The vice-president of Reconquête!, the movement initiated by Eric Zemmour, also pointed out that “(this) strike was launched even before wage negotiations took place”. For her, the decision to launch the personnel requisition procedure was therefore justified. “The right to strike must be accompanied by respect for public order. When there is a disproportionate attack on public order, as is the case today, it is normal that there may be have limits placed on this right to strike”, she considers.

While highlighting the myriad of difficulties facing the French. “The situation in France is still painful at the moment, in many respects. There is the diplomatic crisis, the energy crisis, the economic crisis and now a shortage of gasoline. Objectively, it is perfectly irresponsible of the part of these unions, especially since, obviously, there is a desire from Total to make an additional gesture”, she judges.

Reform union functioning

At the microphone of Pierre de Vilno, she also delivered various proposals to reform the trade union operation in France from top to bottom. “We could bring out this idea, which in my opinion was a good idea, of the union check which would allow, within companies, to grant a check in order to be able to join the union of their choice”.

Marion Maréchal also suggested the obligation to unionize. “It could liberalize the system of creating unions to have a much wider diversity.” Finally, the former regional councilor for the PACA region considers the allocation of public subsidies to unions to be abnormal. “I consider that the unions must live from their contributions. It is sometimes a minority in their general budget”, she regrets.
