Fuels: major brands are mobilizing by offering promotions this weekend

Before the entry into force of the discount of 15 cents from the government from April 1, Carrefour, Casino and Auchan are offering discount offers on fuel this weekend.

While from April 1, a discount of 15 centimes per liter on fuels subsidized by the State will be applied in all service stations for four months, the major retail chains are already starting and already in working order to attract consumers. Casino, Carrefour, Auchan and TotalEnergies offer promotional offers.

Casino offers, this Friday and Saturday, the liter of fuel at 1 euro within the limit of 50 liters. In concrete terms, customers fill up as usual, and then collect at the reception of their store a voucher equivalent to the difference between the actual amount of their fill-up and its supposed amount if the liter was 1 euro, to be used from 80 euros of purchase in the weekend. This is not a first for the distributor, which had proposed this same operation at the beginning of February and also between October and November last.

Auchan is also offering, for March 25 and 26, a 6-euro voucher that can be used from 30 euros of shopping for the purchase of at least 30 liters of fuel. This offer will also be valid on the 1er and April 2.

For its part, Carrefour anticipates the boost from the government by offering from this Friday and until March 31 a reduction of 15 cents per liter of fuel purchased in its service stations which will be credited to the loyalty card. But this offer is only valid once and within the limit of 99 liters.

Finally, since Monday 14 February, customers of TotalEnergies service stations located in rural areas have benefited from a discount at the pump. “At the checkout, they will see a deduction of 5 euros for 50 liters, 2 euros for 20 liters, and that in the 1150 rural stations of TotalEnergies and for three months“, had indicated its CEO Patrick Pouyanné on RTL. This discount of 10 centimes per liter on gasoline and diesel is made at the checkout. The offer is valid from the first liter of fuel and without a maximum amount. It concerns municipalities with less than 6,000 inhabitants and the axes connecting them, as well as the overseas territories until May 15, 2022.

As for the discount promised by the government from April 1, it will be 15 to 18 cents including tax per liter of fuel, a difference which is explained by the amount of VAT applied in the various French territories. “The VAT being 20% on the continent in Metropolitan France, the discount at the pump will be 18 cents per liter including tax for the consumer. It will be around 17 cents in Corsica where the VAT is 13% and 15 cents in Overseas, where there is no VAT on petroleum products.details the Ministry of Ecological Transition.
