Launched on the eve of summer 2022, the Fujifilm X-H2S is the first APS-C mirrorless to feature a stacked sensor. This makes it a very relevant case for sports or wildlife photographers. It is also equipped with the latest advances from Fuji in terms of autofocus, in particular allowing the recognition and tracking of faces, human eyes, animals, but also vehicles, two-wheelers or even planes and trains.

With the 3.0 update presented on January 13, 2023, the X-H2S can also track drones and insects. The Fujifilm device therefore joins the Sony Alpha 7R V (A7R V), which was the first to incorporate insect recognition and tracking. On the other hand, the recognition of drones remains a first according to the state of our knowledge. Interestingly, these additions do not benefit from a specific mode. Insect detection is activated by selecting bird tracking, while drones are related de facto in “aircraft” mode.

The update also improves AF tracking generally in so-called “complex” situations, as well as for subjects with fast or random movements. The 3.0 update is available on the Fujifilm website
