Fujifilm X-T5 vs Sony A6700 vs Canon EOS R7: the match between APS-C hybrids

Here comes a new challenger

It’s not just 24×36 sensor devices in life. Indeed, the APS-C market has seen tremendous changes over the past 12 months, helped by Fujifilm and Canon, which have launched no less than four cameras of this type each. Under the 800 € mark for some and beyond 2500 € for others, there is something for everyone. Even Sony joined in the fun.

While the Japanese giant hadn’t launched an APS-C (“classic”) sensor device for nearly four years, here comes the Sony Alpha 6700 (A6700). A case that is still very compact, equipped with a stabilized 26 Mpx sensor and integrating the latest generation of the company’s autofocus systems. An interesting device therefore, but, at 1700 €, it is not alone in its market; we wanted to play the little game of the technical sheet, to see how this new challenger behaves (on paper) against the Fujifilm X-T5 and Canon EOS R7.

The Sony A6700 therefore looks promising. It can slip anywhere and if it has an autofocus approaching that of the Sony A7R V, it will cause a stir. That being said, the quality of its viewfinder and screen leaves something to be desired. Also, 4K recording isn’t crop-free, and the burst still falls short of the competition, despite having a slightly better buffer. Considering this technical sheet, we can say that the game has only just begun and it will be tight.
