“Intermediate” generation of processorsthe Raptor Lake refresh series will seriously advance the Intel midrange.
Failing to revolutionize an architecture introduced by Intel in the fourth quarter of 2021 with the Alder Lake generation, the Raptor Lake refresh will change the number of cores/threads.
A big dozen references
It is now a certainty, the Meteor Lake architecture will not be released in a desktop version during this year 2023. Intel has decided to limit this generation to laptop processors only.
The desktop market will still evolve next fall since Intel has the Raptor Lake refresh CPUs in its boxes, which are scheduled for the end of October – between 17 and 23 – with a very clear increase in the number of key cores/threads.
In particular relayed by TechPowerUpthe complete list of processors of this 14th generation has been published on the YouTube channel RedGamingTech.
Core i5-14600K = Core i9-12900K?
In the absence of official confirmation from Intel – it’s far too early for that – let’s keep a certain distance from the information revealed by the chain.
Credible information, however, when it seems to endorse a strong trend at Intel: the rapid and substantial increase in the number of cores, especially on mid-range models.
Thus, the Core i9-14900K takes up the configuration of the Core i9-13900K (24 cores/32 threads). The Core i5-14600K goes to 16 cores/24 threads, i.e. the same organization as the Alder Lake generation Core i9-12900K.
The entire lineup is reviewed by the YouTube channel, but we’re still missing several key pieces of information like frequencies and indicative Intel pricing. It won’t be long.
