  • This Monday, September 19 was celebrated the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • Arriving at Westminster Abbey to attend the ceremony, Princess Charlotte, 7, broke down in tears.
  • Her mother, Kate Middleton, approached her to console her.

A heartbreaking image in every way. This Monday, September 19, 2022 was celebrated the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8 at Balmoral Castle, Scotland. A moment of great emotion for the whole of the United Kingdom, but also and above all for the members of the British royal family. All dressed in black, the relatives of the late monarch appeared very moved during the ceremony, including King Charles III, who could not hold back a few tears when his mother’s coffin arrived at Westminster Abbey. …

The tribute to the British sovereign has also been difficult for her great-grandchildren, in particular Princess Charlotte. As revealed by some pictures taken on the forecourt of Westminster Abbey, where she arrived with her mother, Kate Middleton, the queen consort, Camilla, and her older brother, prince George, the young princess collapsed even before she entered the monastery. In tears, the little girl, who wore a black dress, a black hat and a small brooch in the shape of a horseshoe in tribute to “GanGan”took her face in her hands under the sorry gaze of her mother, who hastened to console her.

Despite her grief, Prince William’s daughter did not miss a single second in her duty. Sitting to her mother’s left during the funeral, Princess Charlotte remained very dignified, singing whenever she was asked to do so. Her own way of paying homage to her great-grandmother, who left a deep mark on the first seven years of her life.

After the state funeral at Westminster Abbey, Princess Charlotte and her brother followed the procession of Elizabeth II’s coffin by car to Wellington Arch, southeast of Hyde Park, to watch from the coffin of their great-grandmother in the capital of London. With Prince William and Kate Middleton, they then joined St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, where a second ceremony in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II was held. This evening, they will attend, in the sole company of their loved ones, the burial of the latter. Note that Queen Elizabeth II will be buried in the chapel of her father, King George VI, called the King George VI Memorial. She will rest alongside her father, but also her mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, and her husband, Prince Philip.
