Fuss about the A10 tunnel – criticism of ASFINAG: “Largest parking lot in Austria”

The renovation of the tunnel chain betweenwerfen and Golling on the Tauernautobahn A10, which began at the beginning of the week, again caused long traffic jams in both directions on Sunday. There is now harsh criticism from politicians about ASFINAG’s construction site management.

“It’s even worse today than yesterday,” said Harald Lasser from ÖAMTC Sunday. In the north direction, the traffic jam extends from Werden to beyond Altenmarkt, the delay is around two and a half hours. “It can’t continue like this.” Progress in the south direction is also slow. There were around five kilometers of traffic jams and an additional travel time of around an hour. “You have to think about something. “It can’t go on like this,” said Lasser. Salzburg’s LH deputy responsible for traffic. Stefan Schnöll (ÖVP) meanwhile called for improvement measures from ASFINAG. The long traffic jams are unacceptable and the construction site management is not working, said Schnöll in a press release. He called for a transport summit with the mayors of the affected communities and ASFINAG. This should propose new traffic control measures, said Schnöll. “This is the largest parking lot in Austria.” SPÖ traffic spokeswoman Sabine Klausner also criticized the traffic jam caused by the construction site and the state government’s inaction: “The A10 is the largest parking lot in Austria and a catastrophe for the locals .”
