“Futurama” will get a series revival on streaming service Hulu. While it wasn’t clear for a long time whether all the voices of the original would return, the crew is now complete.
- US streamer Hulu announced a “Futurama” series revival for 2023.
- In the English-language original, you hear (almost) all the speakers from the older episodes.
- Bender spokesman John DiMaggio is the last to join.
After the US streaming service Hulu announced the revival of the popular science fiction animation series “Futurama” after a year-long break, it was unclear whether it would all voice actors from the original series return in their roles. In particular, the case of the voice actor for fan favorite Bender remained unclear for a long time and made waves on social media.
Now “Futurama” fans can breathe a sigh of relief: John DiMaggio will also lend his voice to Bender in the series revival, as the industry journal TVLine has now confirmed. That became one Standoff with the studio over a pay dispute ended (which DiMaggio dubbed “#Bendergate” on social media). DiMaggio has dealt with it attached to most of the original cast of the series and signed for the revival.

What else is “Peaky Blinders” star Cillian Murphy known for?
Series creators Matt Groening (“The Simpsons”) and David X. Cohen are also on board for the reboot of Futurama.
“I’m so bloody grateful for the love and support from fans and colleagues throughout this time (especially my wife Kate) and I can’t wait to get back to work with my Futurama family,” DiMaggio said in a statement. “I’m back baby! Lick my shiny metal butt!”
Now that all pay disputes appear to have been resolved, Futurama can finally return nine years after its last season aired on Comedy Central. Produced by 20th Television Animation, the revival is set to premiered on Hulu in 2023 to celebrate. In Germany you will most likely be able to see the series on Disney+.
