G2 Esports champion of the RLCS Winter Major 2022, Team Queso close

At the end of this second split of the 2021-22 Rocket League RLCS, G2 Esports takes over from Team BDS (Fall Split champion) and becomes the new champion, snatching victory from the nose and beard of Team Queso, who had had a very interesting season, winning Regional Event 1 and Regional Event 3, second in Regional Event 2. But that was obviously not enough to put Europe at the top, since it is the NA team, which we had not seen much in the lead during the regional stages, which lifts the trophy.

After a much less brilliant season at the end, the Samurai qualified second in points behind The General NRG. During the group stages of this Major, Team Queso secured qualification through the lower bracket, falling against a team of Version1 unbeatable. NRG hadn’t made many sparks in their group B without real domination, while in group C, G2 won 3 times in as many matches, securing a place directly in upper.

In the end, the NA team rather rolled on its competition, ensuring the qualification rather quickly against FURIA then Spacestation. Team Queso had for its part reassembled the whole bracket, beating FURIA on the wire, more easily FaZe then again in difficulty against Spacestation. In the Grand Final, the Europeans felt their luck returning by beating G2 4/3 in the first set, but falling 4/2 in the second.. Next step: the start of the Spring Split on May 6th.
