Gabi Goddard: Influencer is kicked out of the gym because of her outfist

The Australian Gabi Goddard is in the middle of training in her gym when she is suddenly asked to leave. The reason: Allegedly too much bare skin …

Imagine that you are in the gym, you are training unsuspectingly and as usual in front of you and suddenly an employee comes up to you and asks you to leave. Would be strange, wouldn't it? When you asked what was going on, you were told that there had been a complaint about your training outfit: It was too revealing, you could see too much bare skin. Ouch! Aren't we one step further? Obviously not. Because that's exactly what has happened to Australian fitness blogger Gabi Goddard in the gym she trusts.

Teacher worried about his students because of "bare skin"

In her Insta story, Gabi posted the following photo of her sports outfit – a combination of cycling shorts and sports bra, as we see millions of influencer bodies on Instagram.

Gabi writes: "Hello everyone. Today I was asked to leave the gym and change (* Flashback to the church camp *) because a teacher (who was supervising teenagers) had a problem with this outfit and complained. It's hot , The air conditioning was not on, but the teacher was apparently concerned that the children would see too much bare skin. ? The following is my complaint email to the school principal, in which I explain the problems of such a request. "

In her complaint e-mail, which she also posted in her story and saved as a highlight, Gabi first describes the situation and argues that as a powerlifter she needs freedom of movement and that she has chosen a light outfit because of the heat. Regardless of her motivation, she is shocked that the school takes the liberty of patronizing an adult woman, condemning her choice of clothes and restricting her freedom (to train as she likes). The school is thus conveying questionable values, namely that 14-year-old boys are more important than women, and punishing women for being treated like objects by boys and men.

Outrage on Instagram

The story apparently quickly made the rounds on Instagram: As reported by "dailymail", the Australian feminist Clementine Ford reposted Gabi's email, as did The Nasty Woman Club. Numerous users took Gabi's side and expressed outrage about the behavior of the teacher and the fitness studio. "Something like that drives me crazy, I wouldn't think it's okay if someone told my daughter what to wear," "dailymail" quotes a user reaction.

Gabi subsequently expressed her understanding that her old gym had followed the teacher's complaint – after all, it could not afford to lose the school as a customer, especially during the corona crisis. But she herself has now apparently changed gyms – in order to be able to train freely and as she sees fit.
