Guest of Sonia Mabrouk, Gérard Larcher, president of the Republicans of the Senate, returned to Gabriel Attal’s trip to Viry-Châtillon, this town in Essonne recently marked by the death of Shemseddine, 15 years old, beaten near his college. He believes that this tragic event is the incarnation of a failure of Emmanuel Macron’s policies for seven years.

For La Grande interview Europe 1-CNews, Gérard Larcher, president of the Republicans of the Senate, spoke about the presence of Gabriel Attal in Viry-Châtillon, town of young Shemseddine, a 15-year-old teenager beaten up near his college and died from his injuries. According to Gérard Larcher, this event represents “the failure of the President’s policy for seven years”.

Thus, the President of the Senate believes that “society has become more violent, its school is deteriorating, the feeling of impunity is growing and it is going through a serious housing crisis”. He also sees “a particularly worrying budgetary reality, almost a symbol of failure”.

“We need action”

He also deplores diagnoses which leave no room for action: “We need action. We do not need a new Grenelle. We do not need new debates”, he insists.

He believes that Parliament must provide a response to the “loss of bearings in our society”. He concludes by explaining this loss of bearings by several factors: the breakdown of families, the failure of the integration policy and the spread of a form of radical Islamism.
