Gabriella and Jacques of Monaco charm everyone as they watch, arm in arm, the burning boat in honor of Saint Dévote.
Gabriella and Jacques of Monaco, the nine-year-old twins of the Monegasque royal couple Albert II (65) and Charlène (46), attended the festival in honor of the patron saint with their parents on Friday evening Monaco. Photos from the religious ceremony showed how much fun the children had. A touching hug between the two in front of the burning boat at the harbor in Monaco, which they were previously allowed to set on fire themselves, also shows their close bond.
Memorial Day of the Saints
Traditionally, the annual festival of Sainte Dévote, Monaco’s patron saint, is celebrated at the end of January. According to legend, the young Christian Dévote did not renounce her faith despite fatal torture. The Saint Dévote is fervently venerated in the Principality. Since 1924, a fishing boat has been symbolically burned in her honor every year on the evening of January 26th. as it says on a homepage.

Princess’s birthday
It is the second holiday in a row. The day before Remembrance Day, Princess Charlène’s 46th birthday was celebrated in Monaco.
On the occasion of this holiday, the palace published a picture on Instagram, which shows the royal couple with the twins. You marvel at a multi-tiered cake decorated with flowers and butterflies. Previously the palace had a portrait of the princess shared with public congratulations for Charlène.
Prince Albert II and the South African Charlene Wittstock married on July 1, 2011, with the church wedding following a day later. The twins Gabriella and Jacques were born in December 2014.
