Gad Elmaleh talks about his granddaughter Ely and his words could well appeal to his son Noé

He probably didn’t expect to become a grandfather at only 53, and yet… June 11, 2023, Noé Elmaleh, the eldest son of comedian Gad Elmaleh, welcomed his first daughter, Ely, born from his relationship with influencer and columnist Johannes Marques. The two lovebirds have been a couple for several years now and seem to be in perfect love since the officialization of their story in August 2019. Four years after the start of this romance, it materialized with the birth of their first child.

Guest of Europe 1 this Saturday, June 29, 2024 to promote the animated film Despicable Me 4, in which he lends his voice to the main character of Gru, alongside Audrey Lamy and Alex Lutz, Gad Elmaleh was asked about this new role that life offered him, for which he was not really prepared. It must be said that the comedian is only 53 years old, and his son, Noah, has just celebrated his 23rd birthday… A surprise birth for the ex-partner of Charlotte Casiraghi and Anne Brochet, who also became a grandmother at 57 years old.

Ely will soon watch all the “Despicable Me”

Gad Elmaleh chose to welcome this role of grandfather without fear or seriousness, as he informed the listeners ofEurope 1 : “I don’t take it seriously at all! I take it with a lot of joy, love, peace and instinct. It’s great.”The comedian is all the more happy about the release of Despicable Me 4 that this coincides with the arrival of Ely in his life. Indeed, about fifteen years ago, when he lent his voice to Gru for the very first time in the initial opus of Despicable MeGad Elmaleh had asked for help from his little Noah, then around 8 years oldto find the ideal voice to give to his character.

“I remember, he was in bed one night, I was telling him stories and I said to myself that I would rather ask him what voice I could do. I tried a rather high voice, without rolling the r’s. I saw that it didn’t work (…) I gave him seven, eight, nine voices and at one point I tried a mixture of high and low voices rolling the r’s, and he said to me: Wow dad that’s so funny“ Gad Elmaleh recalled, moved. And if Ely is too young for now to watch Despicable Me 4Gad Elmaleh intends to show him the four opuses that make up the saga in a few years: “It touches me greatly to know that he will soon show Gru to his daughtersince my granddaughter will be able to see Despicable Me in no time”.

Anne Brochet not ready for the announcement

Last April, in an interview she gave to our colleagues at GalaAnne Brochet confided in the recent fatherhood of her only son and the arrival of Ely in their life, which she experienced as an upheaval : “When my son, my baby, announced to me that he was going to be a parent in turn, I was not ready at all”. But ultimately, the arrival of Ely in June 2023 changed everything, and yesterday’s fears quickly faded: “When my little girl was born, I thought of my mother. I thought of her other grandmother. I actually thought of all the women in the family who had given birth before she was born.“ had declared the one who wanted at all costs to be “a clown grandmother” for Ely.
