Gaijin announces Aces of Thunder, aerial combat simulation for PS VR2

As you may have guessed, Gaijin draws on the experience gained with War Thunder, mobilizing veteran developers within a new internal team, created for the occasion. Consequently, Aces of Thunder will carry over the flight and damage models of its predecessor. All the difference is in the controls, which the Eastern European editor wants as detailed as possible. Sitting in a digital cockpit, all the controls (or almost) will be actionable, simulating a real experience as closely as possible. Apart from the turbulence, that goes without saying (unless you’re playing on a spinning washing machine). Gaijin particularly relies on the OLED screen and haptic feedback to make the difference.

On the content side, Aces of Thunder will focus on WWII aircraft to begin with, with some nice peekaboo like the Spitfire and P-51 Mustang. Future updates will take care of exploring other major aviation eras. Great news: all planes will be free to purchase. Eh yes, Aces of Thunder will follow an old-school premium model where you have to play to unlock content and cosmetics, not take out the blue card. Everyone will be able to compete on equal terms in competitive modes, which will range from duels to tag team matches to rules custom. Beautiful promises that put this project directly on our radar.

Aces of Thunder will appear later in 2023, without details for the moment. In the meantime, you can always check the official website.
