Galaxy A55: a dazzling design for the future king of Samsung’s mid-range

All eyes are on the Galaxy S24 at the start of 2024. While the date of the Galaxy Unpacked event dedicated to these new high-end devices has just been revealed by Samsung, new details are emerging about the next over-equipped mid-range from the South Korean firm: the Galaxy A55. Android Headlines has shared official renders of this model, revealing a much more premium smartphone than previous generations.

Aluminum to enhance the Galaxy A55

The entry and mid-range mostly lean towards a plastic chassis, compared to aluminum and titanium for the high-end. Good news, Samsung plans to break this trend in 2024 with the Galaxy A55.

The official renderings of the smartphone shared by Android Headlines indeed show an aluminum coating for the successor to the Galaxy A54. We are thus entitled to a real move upmarket in terms of design, with a material that is much more careful and premium than the usual plastic.

The chassis also benefits from the two changes inaugurated on the new Galaxy A05s, Galaxy A25 and Galaxy A15: flat borders and the Key Island – a rounded part on the right edge housing the power button, also serving as a fingerprint sensor digital buttons, as well as the volume key.

For the rest, we notice a design known to this range of smartphones: a flat panel with a punch centered at the top of the screen. The edges are always asymmetrical, with a chin much thicker than the other three sides.

At the back, the Galaxy A55 sports a photo configuration with three sensors, always separated from each other, supplemented by an LED flash.

Android Headlines also includes information already mentioned in previous rumors: the presence of the Samsung Exynos 1480 SoC on the Galaxy A55. As a reminder, this chip should be engraved in 4 nanometers, and benefit from a GPU based on AMD’s RDNA2 graphics architecture. On the RAM side, 8 GB would be there.

The media concludes by emphasizing that Samsung’s Galaxy A55 will be marketed with the One UI 6.1 overlay, running Android 14. As a reminder, the latter should make its entry into the Galaxy family in mid-January 2024 on the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra.

However, we do not know if some of the artificial intelligence functions available on Samsung’s next high-end models via this version of One UI will also be present on the Galaxy A55, or on other entry-level and mid-range models. which will be launched soon.
