Galaxy Buds Pro 2: Samsung moves up a gear with its new true wireless headphones

For this second version, the Galaxy Buds Pro 2 push their limits. Not content to benefit from a more neat and versatile design (we will not miss the glossy coating of the previous version), the headphones are indeed more compact, 15% smaller than their predecessors according to the manufacturer’s figures south korean. It is therefore a safe bet that these Galaxy Buds Pro 2 will be able to offer first-rate comfort, which was already the case before.

This thinning is also done without any compromise on the duration of use, reassures Samsung. On the contrary, the headphones, now equipped with a 514 mAh battery (compared to 475 mAh), boast a usage time of up to 18 to 29 hours (compared to 15 to 22 hours previously), depending on the use or no active noise reduction. A full charge of the headphones would provide up to 8 hours of use, the case is compatible with wireless charging.

The Galaxy Buds Pro second of the name would also go further in terms of insulation, and therefore active noise reduction, already extremely solid, by pushing the insulation from 30 to 33 dB, in particular thanks to the three integrated microphones (against 1) . In terms of connectivity, these flagships switch to Bluetooth 5.3 and even have the luxury of supporting a new 24-bit “HD” codec developed by Samsung, the Samsung Seamless Codec, which will however be reserved for Samsung smartphones under One UI 4. Compatibility with Dolby Atmos 3D sound, with tracking of the movements of the user’s head, is still on the program on this product… and still with the same constraint of using a compatible Samsung smartphone to take advantage of it.

The loss in volume of headphones obviously has a consequence on their acoustic architecture. Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Pro 2 retain their two-way design with a speaker dedicated to bass and midrange reproduction, and a second for treble. Nevertheless, their diameter increases from 11 to 10 mm and from 6.5 to 5.3 mm respectively, which will certainly affect the sound reproduction.

The Galaxy Buds Pro 2 are available at a price of €229 and are available in the same three colors as the previous model: lavender, black or white. Samsung’s latest headphones also benefit from a launch offer with a fast duo charger provided until September 30.
