Galaxy Fit 3: Samsung returns to the connected bracelet market

A stone’s throw from the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which will open its doors on February 26, it is on the other side of the globe that Samsung is formalizing its new connected bracelet. The Galaxy Fit 3, which had been the subject of numerous information leaks since the beginning of 2024, is therefore official, at least in the Philippines. A few crucial elements are still missing: the bracelet will only be sold “on a selection of markets” from February 23, and the price assigned to it © does not accompany the presentation of its characteristics; we have no doubt that it is significantly behind that of the Galaxy Watch 6, the manufacturer’s latest connected watches.

And its technical sheet, in fact, had been widely leaked, so that it did not create any surprises. Samsung confirms the change of direction that we expected: far from the Galaxy Fit 2, with its small, very stretched screen, the Galaxy Fit flirts with the world of Galaxy Watches. The bracelet thus integrates a 1.57-inch rectangular OLED screen (45% larger, according to South Korean calculations), in color and allowing more information to be displayed; the recent leaks that we had consulted mentioned a definition of 256 x 402 pixels. A hundred watchfaces is available to dress it up, alongside personal photos which can serve as wallpaper. This panel is included in an aluminum case including a navigation button, which can be used to automatically send emergency messages, via a series of clicks. This case benefits from IP68 certification and is water resistant to 5 ATM.

The bracelet is intended to be capable of collecting various data: the quality of nights, associated with a sleep coach, monitoring of oxygen saturation or even the detection of snoring (via a Galaxy smartphone nearby), stress level, and of course sports tracking compatible with around a hundred activities. Note that in the absence of GPS, the smartphone remains essential for complete recording of outdoor activities such as running or cycling. But this point also allows the device to promise long-lasting autonomy: Samsung ensures that the Galaxy Fit 3 is designed to last up to 13 days away from its charger. The device is also designed as a companion for the smartphone, which can receive its notifications, but also – essentially when connected to a terminal under One UI – control photo applications and music players remotely. To accompany models such as the Galaxy S24, in short, but also the recently made official Galaxy A25 or A05s, or a Galaxy A55 which is still awaited.
