Samsung will equip the Galaxy S23 with the latest type of Gorilla Glass. The manufacturer Corning has now announced this. Accordingly, the front display will be protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
As Corning explains in a statement, Victus 2 is twice as resistant to falls as its predecessor. While Gorilla Glass Victus was developed with asphalt as its toughest “opponent”, the display of smartphones with Victus 2 should be able to survive falls from a height of up to two meters onto concrete.
Even if such falls are rather rare in everyday life, more protection for a mobile phone display is generally positive. So far, however, no smartphone with this type of glass has appeared – the S23 is the first. So it remains to be seen whether the new Gorilla Glass can keep what it promises.
