If the Galaxy S23 series has already caused a lot of ink to flow, the date of presentation of the smartphones has still not been announced. But according to the daily Korea JoongAng Daily, the case is now closed: it is not during CES in Las Vegas (early January 2023) that the mobiles will be formalized, but during an event planned for the very beginning of February. The newspaper’s source, one of the representatives of the Korean firm, assures him that the Unpacked Event in question will be held in the United States. This wouldn’t come as a surprise, as the announcement of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 took place last summer in New York.
The successors to the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra should adopt the same nomenclature. They will be, according to the words of Qualcomm, driven mostly, if not entirely, by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip just made official, the European versions of the devices then abandoning the usual Exynos SoCs. Rumors are also rife about these Galaxy S23s: it is said to be its Ultra version equipped with a 200-megapixel main photo sensor, an Isocell designed by Samsung’s imaging division. The photo block of the three smartphones should be inspired by that of the S22 Ultra, each module probably being integrated directly into the shell of the devices. There is also talk of a charge limited to 25 W.
One thing is certain: the Galaxy S23 will be entitled to Android 13, the deployment of which is underway on a large part of the brand’s smartphones, and will use the OneUI 5 interface that accompanies it. And like all the new references presented by competing brands, they will have to deal with a context of inflation which risks inflating their prices, but also with a smartphone market that is globally losing ground.
