The Galaxy S22 smartphones have not been on the market for long, but Samsung is already working hard on the successors. For the Galaxy S23 Ultra, a first detail has now emerged that affects the design of the next top smartphone. It’s about the display.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with a flat display?
Samsung has gradually said goodbye to the dual-edge display in the Galaxy S smartphones. The Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus now have flat screens. According to the latest information, this could also apply to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Accordingly, Samsung should make the frame of the smartphone significantly wider, so that there would hardly be any more room for a rounded display. At least one insider assumes that the curvature will become very small or disappear completely (source: ice universe). This would mean that the Galaxy S23 Ultra would lose a unique selling point, which has always been criticized anyway because it offers no real added value.
Even with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the display on the sides is no longer quite as curved as it used to be. If the rounding decreases even further, you almost have a flat display. This in turn would have the advantage that the pen can be used even better and that Smartphone would be a little more robust. The disadvantage would be that the Galaxy S23 Ultra would probably not be quite as compact. Even with the Galaxy S22 you can see that it looks a bit more “ordinary” compared to a Galaxy S20. Even if a dual-edge display does not offer any added value, it makes the smartphone look much slimmer.

Samsung just introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. The Galaxy S23 smartphones are expected in early 2023. The performance is likely to take place again in February.
