Artificial intelligence is all the rage and Samsung doesn’t want to miss the boat. A body of evidence shows that the next high-end Galaxy mobiles will compete with Google on this point.

While the torrents of phones that arrive on the market every year no longer bring major technological breakthroughs, Samsung wants to make its future Galaxy S24 ace in artificial intelligence to hope to capture interest (and the wallet). ) of the general public. The Korean manufacturer has just applied to register the brand “AI Phone” And “AI Smartphone», in preparation for the launch of the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra.

Samsung wants to shake up Google’s Pixels

As explained by the Dutch media GalaxyClub, this trademark registration was made in South Korea, Samsung’s native land. If it is not certain that the manufacturer will obtain the first word of this name (which remains very general), this at least gives an idea of the communication axis on which Samsung wants to insist when marketing its future ultra mobiles top of the line.

The mobiles, which should be officially announced on January 17, 2024, will therefore put the emphasis on artificial intelligence, probably to tickle Google and its Pixel 8. This is not exactly a surprise since we know that at least one version of the S24 will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, particularly designed for AI.

From chip to micro AI

But that’s not all. At the beginning of November, the manufacturer also unveiled its own generative AI during an event in South Korea. Named Samsung Gauss, in homage to the mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss, Samsung’s machine aims to compete with ChatGPT, Google Bard and other AI in the sector. Capable of translating speech on the fly, generating images or producing code, Samsung’s AI should arrive in the Galaxy S24 under the nickname “Galaxy AI”.

For the manufacturer, this language model “will transform the everyday mobile experience» thanks to extensive integration within its mobile OS. It remains to be seen whether these features will be available in our regions. If the Bixby experience, named after this virtual assistant now largely abandoned by Samsung, has taught us anything, it is that the South Korean behemoth is not always very diligent when it comes to adapting some of its features beyond its native lands.
