Samsung recently updated its catalog of high-end tablets with the Galaxy Tab S8 series. But the South Korean giant also intends to give its most affordable slate a facelift.
Samsung may offer premium tablets, the firm does not forget that a significant part of its sales is made on the entry level. It is with this in mind that it is preparing to update the Galaxy Tab A7, its most affordable slate.
The leaker Snoopy Tech unveiled the technical sheet of the device on its Twitter account, before its official announcement. As the visual shows, this 2022 edition is very similar to that of 2020.
According to the leaker, the tablet has a 10.4-inch TFT LCD screen, displaying in 1,200 x 2,000 pixels. The maximum image refresh rate is 60 Hz. Not surprising for an entry-level model.
The real novelty is hidden under the slab. Samsung has probably opted for a Unisoc T618, coupled with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory (expandable up to 1 TB through a microSD port). However, different storage options should be available.

This new chip engraved in 12 nanometers by TSMC would thus replace the Snapdragon 662 present in the 2020 edition. It consists of two Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores, also at 2 GHz. It remains to be seen whether this is a real move upmarket, or whether Samsung wanted to offer more or less similar performance at a lower cost.
Unfortunately, everything should work on Android 11 and the OneUI 3.1.1 overlay. On the connectivity side, we would only benefit from Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 5. The 3.5 mm jack port is always present.
Regarding the photo, we would be entitled to a single 8-megapixel back sensor as well as a module for 5-megapixel selfies at the front. Autonomy, finally, would be ensured by a 7040 mAh battery. Considering the on-board hardware, we expect excellent general endurance.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 (2022) should remain accessible, since it would be sold for €199 in Europe. Either a lower price than that of the 2020 edition, billed at €249 when it was released.
