Samsung has presented a new budget tablet with the Galaxy Tab A8. With a 10.5 inch display and Dolby Atmos Surround Sound, Samsung promises a great viewing experience for your favorite films and series. We’ll tell you what’s in the inexpensive alternative to the Galaxy Tab S7 and for whom the purchase could be worthwhile.

  • The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 has been officially presented.
  • The offer is aimed primarily at students and schoolchildren.
  • The tablet will appear in January for 229 euros in the wifi version and 279 euros in the LTE version.

Samsung recently introduced a new budget tablet with the Galaxy Tab A8. The new tablet comes with a 10.5 inch display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels. Together with the promised Dolby Atmos Surround Sound, which Samsung implements via four integrated speakers, you can enjoy your favorite films and mobile games in HD.

A 7040 mAh battery powers the tablet and is charged using the separately available 15 watt charger. In addition, the tablet is a real lightweight – it only weighs 508 grams. As is usual with tablets, the camera is not a technical marvel. With 8 megapixels, the main camera on the back is more suitable for use in apps than for photos. There is also a 5 megapixel selfie camera on the front of the tablet.

An octa-core processor promises decent performance for everyday use. The device was announced with Android 11, but it should be upgradeable to Android 12. This is still a disadvantage for the update guarantee, since the Android version from the release is always counted here.

The Tab A8 should appear in the colors dark gray, silver and pink gold. For the release there will also be various covers for the tablet, all of which should offer good protection.

For whom is the Galaxy Tab A8 worthwhile?

Samsung sees schoolchildren and students as the target group for the tablet. The built-in processor should make it possible to open several windows on the tablet at the same time and thus listen to the lecture while at the same time following the presentation – or chatting with friends. There is also a screen recorder function with which you can record the current lecture or a gaming session.

The Galaxy Tab A8 is certainly not the expected flagship tablet from Samsung – but as an A-series device, it should not be at all. However, it offers decent performance at a relatively affordable price. An attack on Apple, which only sell the cheapest iPad from 379 euros. That is more expensive than the Tab A8, which is expected to appear in two versions in Germany. The cheap WiFi version will cost 229 euros in this country and the LTE version will be available for 279 euros.
