Owners of Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 5 are going to have a good surprise: the Korean manufacturer has just rolled out a brand new update on its connected watches, enough to fill up with new features.
A few weeks ago, Samsung presented with great fanfare its Galaxy Watch 6 and 6 Pro, its new generation connected watches. These had been launched with a brand new update to the operating system, which is now based on Google’s Wear OS 4. The One UI Watch 5 overlay incorporates most of the features of the OS, but with Samsung sauce.
Predictably, the update is also slated for the company’s older watches, and the rollout has just begun on last year’s Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Classic. European users can therefore now download the new update, which has the number R9xxXXU1BWH3 and weighs about 1.7 GB.

What new features on One UI Watch 5?
Among the most important changes of this new version, we can mention the new way of browsing the dials and the different tiles. Indeed, it now offers a vertical layout.
One UI Watch 5 also adds a new Battery tile, which allows you, as the name suggests, to check the battery level of all your devices. Users can now also start timers from the new Timer tile without opening the Timer app.
Samsung has also added an improved sleep coaching feature to Samsung Health, which is handy for users who want to track and improve their sleep habits. There are also new controls for calls, including adjusting the volume of calls or even the possibility of muting them.
Finally, we can also note the possibility of easily transferring data from the watch to a new phone and an automatic backup function. Security is also in the spotlight, with a security feature requiring a PIN or pattern after a factory reset.
