Officially released on June 13, 2024, the Galaxy Watch FE finally allows Samsung to step into Apple’s footsteps. The South Korean brand’s first affordable connected watch, it is offered at €219 in Bluetooth versions and €269 when adding 4G LTE connectivity, compared to €279 and €329 for the second generation of Apple Watch SE.

In terms of technical characteristics and design, Samsung has clearly reused already known material, that of the Galaxy Watch 4 in the 40 mm version. In other words, the following sensors are present: accelerometer, barometer , gyroscope, heart rate monitor, electrocardiogram, bioelectrical impedance and GPS.

Finally, Samsung’s affordable connected watch benefits from IP68 + 5 ATM waterproof certification and runs natively under One UI Watch 5 and Wear OS 4. The marketing date has not yet been revealed by Samsung. In the announcement press release in German, we can only read that the watch “will be available this summer”.

By making this announcement, Samsung is setting the stage for its Galaxy Unpacked summer event. It must be said that the company will have something to say about connected watches with the Galaxy Watch 7, and especially a new premium model: the Galaxy Watch Ultra. A new opportunity to overshadow Apple, and more specifically the Watch Ultra.
