  • The Galaxy Watch 4 and 5 will soon receive an update to One UI Watch 5.
  • This automatically activates fall detection from a certain age.
  • Other health features will also be revised.

In the course of the year, Samsung will roll out a major update for the Galaxy Watch 5, the Watch 5 Pro and the predecessors Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The One UI Watch 5 update brings numerous new features with it. These primarily concern the health and safety functions of the watches.

Fall detection is automatically activated from a certain age

Fall detection on your Galaxy Watch is now automatically activated as soon as you are 55 or older. According to Samsung, the age specified in your Samsung account is decisive. So far, you had to manually activate fall detection on your Galaxy Watch. The function calls for help if you fall and do not react for a certain period of time.

The age-independent innovations include the following functions:

  • The GPX database is now directly accessible for Galaxy Watch 5 Pro users via the Samsung Health app.
  • On the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, the route workout function is now expanded to include running and walking – previously there were only hiking and cycling route options.
  • Personalized heart rate zones are added to the Galaxy Watch’s running tools.
  • Do you also control your smart home with your Galaxy Watch? Then the clock can provide a comfortable sleeping environment. For example, as soon as it detects that you are sleeping, it automatically switches off connected devices.
  • The sleep analysis has been revised and should now be easier to understand. In addition, the sleep coach can be accessed directly via the watch.

Samsung plans to announce additional functions in the coming weeks. When exactly the update will appear is also still unclear. A beta test is scheduled to start in May – but only in the USA and South Korea.
