Samsung has announced a new version of its One UI Watch smartwatch interface, which is based on Google’s WearOS. The new interface is intended to complement the manufacturer’s smartwatches with practical functions.
These are the most important innovations
One of the most practical changes is probably the new interface for replying to incoming messages on the watch. Regardless of whether you are answering an email or writing a message on WhatsApp, you now have a wide range of options for writing texts with your watch. In addition to a QWERTZ keyboard, you can also use the dictation function, a voice message or even write a text by hand.
Better dual sim usage
With the new update, Samsung’s smartwatches will also be compatible with dual SIM cell phones. Accordingly, you can now select one of your SIMs on your smartphone and the watch will automatically synchronize the corresponding messages, contacts and calls. A small display then informs you about which SIM is currently being used. If you activate the function, the watch will also ask you before each call which SIM card it should be made with.
New watch faces
Samsung has also made some improvements to the look. For example, with the new update you will be given several new watch faces, which should provide more variety. The colors of the faces can also be adjusted.
New accessibility features
The manufacturer has also announced some innovations in terms of accessibility. Users can now customize the colors and fonts to avoid visual issues. The transparency effects, animations and other graphic gimmicks can also be modified to achieve better visibility.
In addition, you can now determine how long temporary information and notifications can be seen on the screen. This gives you more time to react to messages or you can also reduce the display time if the banners bother you.
When will the update appear?
When the update will appear is still uncertain. According to Samsung, the release should take place in the third quarter of 2022. A release together with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 would therefore be quite possible.
All Galaxy Watch models starting with the Galaxy Watch 4 will receive the update.
