Galp Energia: profit explodes in the second quarter


Lisbon (awp/afp) – The Portuguese oil and gas group Galp Energia announced Monday a profit of 265 million euros (261 million Swiss francs) in the second quarter, up 90% compared to the same period a year ago. one year old.

In the first half, the group’s profit amounted to 420 million euros, compared to 166 million euros in the first six months of 2021.

Galp’s gross operating surplus (Ebitda) stood at 1.24 billion euros in the second quarter against 571 million a year earlier, thanks to “favorable market conditions, particularly in the exploration, refining and renewable energy,” Galp said in a statement.

The group bought for 140 million euros the 24.99% it did not yet own in Titan Solar, a renewable energy joint venture created with the Spanish engineering company ACS in 2020, he detailed. . Titan Solar currently operates solar parks with an installed capacity of 1.15 GW and is developing other projects with a potential capacity of 1.6 GW, all located in Spain.

At the end of June, the group’s debt stood at 2.18 billion euros, a decrease of 207 million euros compared to the first quarter.

After the announcement of these results, the title Galp Energia fell 0.74% to 9.66 euros Monday morning shortly after the opening of the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
