Gambardella Cup: a young Canet supporter lynched by ultras from Lyon?

Lyon supporters implicated in a new case? After the bottle throwing at Dimitri Payet and the serious excesses that occurred in Charléty in the Coupe de France, ultras from the Rhone club would have lynched a minor supporter of Canet-en-Roussillon on the sidelines of the round of 16 of the Coupe Gambardella, Sunday, between the Canet RFC and OL.

For this match, in the Pyrénées-Orientales, a group of Olympique Lyonnais supporters made the trip to support the U19s of Eric Hély and Pierre Chavrondier. For 90 minutes, they encouraged the young gones, who won their ticket to the quarter-finals thanks to goals at the end of the match from Mohamed El Arouch on penalty (72and) and Thiema Gueye (93and). And if they cracked a few smoke bombs in the stands, no major overflow was reported. At half-time, some Lyon fans were even seen playing with child Canet supporters.

But the situation degenerated at the exit of the stadium. Before returning to the Rhône, members of the group of Lyon supporters reportedly beat up a 17-year-old Canet-en-Roussillon supporter because he was wearing an Olympique de Marseille jersey. His personal effects (airpods, wallet, etc.) were also stolen. Part of it was found by the gendarmerie, who managed to block the Lyonnais bus.

Very shocked by this violent attack, the young man should spend a few days in the hospital before being able to leave. With his family, he should quickly file a complaint. Just like the Canet RFC, which strongly condemned this “lynching”. “Our club cannot tolerate such actions and several complaints will be filed very quickly,” posted the club on its Twitter account, calling on Jean-Michel Aulas and the French Football Federation. For the time being, neither the president of OL nor the body have reacted.
