Game Boy and GBA games soon on Nintendo Switch Online?

Since its release, the Switch’s online service provides gamers who pay for it the ability to play retro titles through various downloadable apps from the Nintendo eShop. Until today, the games offered are not necessarily to everyone’s taste and this is understandable since we all come from different generations. What if this service were to offer other emulators to play on more consoles? This is the point that we will address with the latest leaks that have come out.

The addition of Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games, soon?

While we are waiting for Gamecube games on the Switch instead, it would be other consoles that would be added to Nintendo Switch Online. In fact, we learn from Trash_Bandatcoot that official Nintendo emulators for Game Boy and Game Boy Advance leaked. On the image that is put in the tweet, we can see various titles there which you may know like Pokémon Pinball Ruby and Sapphire or even Golden Sun. As for the Game Boy emulator, only four games seem to be available: Super Mario Land, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Qix and Tetris. Of course, as with other emulators, additions will come later if they land.

The arrival of these two consoles could tip the scales later on for gamers by offering titles with which you may have started like the famous Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald or even Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. The number of games could be substantial in the future if these emulators actually arrive. Afterwards, it remains to be seen how Nintendo will integrate them and that is the next question we ask ourselves.

In what formula can they arrive?

For some time, Nintendo has been offering a service in several formulas with the first which is the classic and which has been there since the beginning and another which was added later which allows you to benefit from more content via Nintendo Switch Online. thanks to its expansion. This second formula offers players access to some N64 and Mega Drive games in addition to having some DLC included also. Now, you have to know where to turn to get access to GB and GBA emulators.

In our case, we have two hypotheses, the first would be to separate the two and therefore tohave the GBA games in the Nintendo Online Plus and the GB games in the classic formula. The other option will be the one that seems to be the most probable, it is the fact ofhave both emulators on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack formula. There is also the possibility that all this will happen in the basic service but it is very unlikely since the Japanese firm will rather focus on highlighting the Plus version of its online.

Now we just have to wait to see if Nintendo confirms the arrival of the GB and the GBA on the online knowing that this information was found on a Switch console and therefore does not come from leaks from Nintendo’s servers. So take this information with a grain of salt. and wait to find out if it will indeed happen. In the meantime, you can still enjoy the other games available.
